Help & Support
A guide to using the Conflux community forums.
Using the forums
Everything you need to participate in the community.
Browsing forums
The Forums page groups discussion forums by topic. Each category contains one or more forums — click any forum to see its threads.
- Threads are sorted by most recent activity by default.
- Pinned threads stay at the top; locked threads can't receive new replies.
- Some forums may be restricted by role — if you can't see a forum, you don't have permission for it.
Starting a new thread
Inside a forum, click New thread to create a discussion.
- Enter a clear, descriptive title and write your opening post using the rich-text editor.
- Add up to 6 tags to help others find your thread.
- Your post is checked against the profanity filter and spam defenses before it appears.
Replying to threads
Use the reply box at the bottom of a thread to join the conversation.
- Click Quote on any post to include a reference to it in your reply.
- Click Reply on a post to open an inline quick-reply editor right beneath it that quotes that post — no scrolling required.
- Locked threads show a notice instead of a reply box.
Voting on posts
Use the up and down arrows next to a post to vote. Upvotes raise the post's score and the author's reputation; downvotes lower them.
- You can't vote on your own posts.
- Clicking the same arrow again removes your vote.
Editing & deleting your posts
You can edit or delete your own posts at any time using the Edit and Delete buttons.
- Edits are saved with a history that moderators can review.
- Deleting a post is permanent and cannot be undone.
Reporting content
If you see a post, thread, or user that violates the rules, click the Report flag and choose a reason. Moderators review every report.
Reports are confidential — the person you report won't know it was you.
Blocking users
Use the Block button on a post or profile to hide someone's content from your view. Blocking is one-directional and silent — they won't be notified.
- Blocked users' posts collapse to a "show anyway" placeholder.
- Blocked users can't send you private messages or mention-notifications.
- Manage your block list from your profile.
Private messages
Open Messages from the top navigation to start private one-on-one or group conversations.
- Click New message and enter a username to start a conversation.
- You can search within your conversations using the search bar.
- New accounts on probation can't send messages until the probation period ends.
Notifications
The bell icon in the header shows unread notifications for replies, mentions, private messages, and moderation actions.
- Click a notification to jump to the related content.
- Adjust email notification preferences in your profile settings.
Searching
Use the Search page to find threads and posts by keyword. Results include titles, body text, and tags.
Your profile
Click your avatar to view your profile, or Profile → Edit to customize it.
- Set a display name, bio, avatar, and profile banner (if allowed by admins).
- Add a signature that appears under your posts.
- Choose a custom title from the admin-approved list, if any.
- Set your timezone so dates and times display correctly for you.
Account security
Visit the Security page to protect your account.
- Two-factor authentication (MFA): enable TOTP for an extra login step. If your role requires MFA, you must set it up before posting.
- Email fallback: add a backup code method in case you lose your authenticator device.
- Sessions: review active sessions and log out of all devices at once if needed.
- Activity log: see a history of logins, password changes, and security events on your account.
Emoji reactions
Click an emoji below any post to react to it. Reactions are a quick way to show how you feel about a post without writing a reply.
- Available emojis are set by admins (e.g. 👍 ❤️ 😂 😮 😢).
- Click the same emoji again to remove your reaction.
- Reactions from users you've blocked are hidden.
Polls
Some threads include a poll at the top. Vote by selecting one option (or multiple, if the poll allows it) and clicking Vote.
- Some polls hide results until you've voted.
- Polls may have a closing date — after that, voting is locked.
- You can change your vote while the poll is open.
Subscribing to threads & forums
Click Subscribe on a thread or forum to get notified when there's new activity.
- Thread subscriptions notify you of new replies.
- Forum subscriptions can optionally notify you of all new threads (if enabled by admins).
- Manage your subscriptions from the Subscriptions page.
Read tracking
Threads you've already read are dimmed in the list, and unread threads show a highlight so you can spot new activity at a glance.
- Use Mark all read on a forum page to clear unread indicators.
- Read state is per-account — it syncs across your devices when you log in.
Reputation & badges
Your reputation grows when others upvote your posts. Badges are awarded automatically as you reach milestones (post count, account age, reputation) or manually by admins.
- Posting on consecutive days builds a streak — some badges are tied to streak milestones.
Leaderboards
The Leaderboards page ranks community members by reputation, post count, posting streaks, and badges.
- Leaderboards are public — anyone can see who the top contributors are.
- Streak leaderboards reset if you miss a day, so consistency matters.
Supporting the community
If admins have enabled monetization, you can support the forum through donations or paid memberships.
- Donations: one-time or monthly voluntary contributions via the Donate page. You can donate anonymously.
- Memberships: paid tiers that unlock restricted boards and grant a special role. Manage your subscription from the Billing page.
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe — your card details never touch the forum.
Sponsors page
The Sponsors page (the label may be renamed by admins) showcases the partners and vendors who support the community.
- Each sponsor section can include a heading, description, image, and a call-to-action link to the partner's site.
- Sections appear in the order admins set them and may use different layouts (banner, split, card, or logo).
- The page is public — you don't need an account to view it. Admins can hide the entire page from the navigation if needed.
Chat rooms
The Chat page hosts real-time community chat rooms alongside the forum threads.
- Global rooms are site-wide lounges open to everyone.
- Forum rooms are linked to a specific forum — a great place for quick back-and-forth about that topic.
- Public rooms are standalone channels anyone can join.
- Private rooms are invite-only — the room owner or a moderator must invite you.
In any room you can:
- Reply to a specific message to keep conversations organized.
- React with an emoji — click an emoji on a message to add or remove your reaction.
- Edit or delete your own messages at any time.
- @mention another user by typing
@username— they'll get a notification.
Messages appear instantly without refreshing. Unread rooms show a dot in the sidebar. For private one-on-one conversations, use Messages.
Community calendar
The Calendar page shows upcoming community events in one place — meetups, streams, game sessions, and more.
- Events display their date, time, and location (online link or in-person venue).
- Click any event to see the full description and details.
- Use the Add to calendar button on an event to download an
.icsfile you can import into Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar. - Game Finder sessions appear on the calendar automatically — no need to create a separate event for them.
- If admins disable the calendar, the page and navigation link are hidden.
Game Finder
The Game Finder page is a community board where any active member can host or join game sessions — tabletop RPGs, board games, video games, or any organized play.
- Browse: filter sessions by title, game system, format (online or in-person), day of the week, date range, and whether slots are open.
- Sign up: click a session to see the full details and roster, then click Join to sign up. Sessions with open slots add you to the roster instantly; full sessions add you to the waitlist.
- Approval mode: some hosts require approval — your signup starts as "requested" and the host accepts or declines it.
- Waitlist: if you're waitlisted, you'll be automatically promoted to the roster when a slot opens (someone leaves or the host increases capacity), and you'll get a notification.
- Host a game: click Host a game to create your own session. Set the title, game system, format, schedule, max players, and an optional rich-text description.
- Recurring sessions: when hosting, choose a recurrence (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) to create a series. The system automatically generates upcoming occurrences — each with its own roster and waitlist. Signups don't carry over between occurrences.
- My Games: the My Games tab shows sessions you're hosting and sessions you've joined, all in one place.
- Session chat: each session has a dedicated private chat room — approved players are added automatically so you can coordinate before the game.
- Reminders: you'll receive an in-app notification approximately 24 hours and 1 hour before a session you're on the roster for.
- Cancel a session: as the host, you can cancel a single session or, for recurring series, cancel the entire series (all upcoming occurrences). Players are notified automatically.
Account standing
Your current disciplinary status is shown on your profile page under Account standing.
- If an admin has enabled user visibility, you'll see whether you're in good standing, warned, or restricted based on active warning points.
- Warning points decay over time if you maintain good behavior (when decay is enabled by admins).
- Accumulating too many points can trigger an automatic suspension or ban, depending on admin-configured thresholds.
- You can view your warnings but not the specific point values — only your standing level is shown.
Data export & account deletion
Under GDPR/CCPA you have the right to access and delete your data.
- Export: visit the Security page to download all your data as a JSON file — posts, threads, votes, messages, notifications, badges, chat messages, and audit logs. Sensitive security fields (MFA secrets, backup codes) are excluded.
- Delete: permanently delete your account from the Security page. You must type
DELETEto confirm. Your personal data is purged, your username is anonymized, and your forum posts remain visible but attributed to "Deleted user." - The last super admin cannot delete their own account — assign another super admin first.
RSS feeds
Subscribe to RSS feeds to follow boards or threads in your favorite reader.
- Each forum has an RSS feed for its latest threads — look for the RSS icon on the forum page.
- Each thread has an RSS feed for its latest replies.
- Feeds include only approved content and respect the site's moderation status.
Rich embeds
Paste a link to a supported social media post and it'll render as a rich preview card inside your message.
- Twitter/X and TikTok links are automatically detected and turned into preview cards with the title, author, and thumbnail.
- The card links to the original post — no scripts or tracking from the source are loaded.
- Unsupported URLs are left as plain links.
Reading & rich media
Threads include several features to make reading and engaging with content easier.
- Image lightbox: click any image in a post to open it full-screen. If a post has multiple images, use the on-screen arrows or your keyboard's left/right keys to browse the gallery.
- Spoiler blocks: some posts hide content behind a click-to-reveal "spoiler" banner. Click the header to expand it; your choice is remembered for the session.
- Font size: use the A+ / A− controls at the top of a thread to scale post text up or down for comfort. Your preference is saved on this device.
- Draft autosave: when writing a reply, your draft is saved automatically as you type. If you navigate away and come back, you'll be offered the option to restore or discard it.
- Back to top: a floating button appears after scrolling down long threads — click it to jump back to the top.
Keyboard shortcuts
Power through the forum without leaving the keyboard. Shortcuts are ignored while you're typing in a text field.
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| / | Jump to search |
| r | Focus the reply box (in a thread) |
| j | Move to the next post (in a thread) |
| k | Move to the previous post (in a thread) |
